Folding Treadmills vs. Non-folding Treadmills

There are two types of treadmill structural designs: folding treadmills and non-folding treadmills. Both of them provide great workout sessions.

Treadmills are one of the most popular pieces of home fitness equipment. Many who are trying to be fit or lose weight, either use a treadmill at their home or at the gym.

However, both have their pros and cons. Non-folding treadmills normally take up valuable space in the house and that can sometimes be an issue. Folding units, on the other hand, provide no space issue, as they can be folded and put away in the closet or under the bed.

Non-folding treadmills

Non-folding models are more stable than folding models; they are stronger, tougher and the overall feel of the machine is excellent. They also cost more than folding units, due to stability, motor power and the overall quality of the treadmill.

They are built to satisfy and feature only the finest components (e.g. motor, roller, belts and the steel of the frame). They are built to perform at the highest standard; even the heaviest individual can use non-folding machines freely without worrying about wobble.

Folding machines are designed to be folded, therefore, the structure of the machine isn’t solid enough. However, that doesn’t mean they are not stable; it means that non-folding machines are more stable. Many manufacturers build plenty of high quality folding treadmills. Do some research to be sure you get the most stable one.

Try the machine before you buy it; if it is solid enough for you to run, jog or walk, then the quality of the treadmill is good and will fit your training needs. The most important part of the machine is the motor. If it is powerful, strong and the overall quality of the treadmill is good, there is no point in purchasing a folding treadmill.

The advantage of using foldable fitness equipment as home exercise equipment is the flexibility of the machine. It can be moved easily, as the machine comes with inbuilt wheels. You can clean the house freely, without worrying space occupied by the machine.

Final word

Folding units tend to be of less quality when compared to non-folding models, due to having less stability. Even though non-folding units take up more space, are difficult to move and hard to clean around, keep in mind they offer great workout benefits.
