Treadmill Endurance Walking Workout

Treadmill endurance walking workouts are also known as distance walking workouts. They should be performed once a week. Sportspersons may practice this exercise routine twice a week. This workout can seem very tough at the beginning, but as you do it more often, it can result in a great stamina building exercise and you will experience higher levels of endurance in just a few weeks.

This workout also helps in quick weight loss when coupled with the right balanced diet. However, you should avoid over doing it, as it can lead to muscle injuries, if done more than your body can take. It should be done no more than once a week by beginners. As your strength grows, you may do it twice a week, but give your body time to react and only continue with it twice a week if your body responds well to it.

Here is how to perform a treadmill endurance walking workout:

• The exercise must be started with a slow pace of walking for 5-10 minutes.

• For the next 5 minutes, perform some stretching and flexibility exercises.

• Thereafter, continue your walk on the treadmill at a tempo that is fast enough to raise your heart rate to 65-80% of the maximum heart rate. This pace will allow you to speak in sentences or phrases while walking. You should walk a distance of 5-10 miles.

• As your endurance builds up over time, you can increase the walking distance.

• At the end of the routine, perform a cool down by doing light stretching exercises for 5 minutes.

Apart from improving your endurance capacity, this workout burns a lot of fat. The treadmill endurance walking workout can burn as many as 100 calories for every mile walked.
